Helpful Hints

  • Bullet pointed ingredient lists and numbered directions work the best
  • Use the URL for the webpage and not the printable version of the recipe
  • Image files should be in one of the following formats: jpg, jpeg, png, bmp
  • In some situations it may not be necessary to include a unit of measure (UoM) for an ingredient. For example, 1 onion would not require a UoM
  • Select exact quantities for ingredients such as "4 pounds ground beef" instead of "3-4 pounds ground beef"
  • Use specific quantities, such as 14 ounces of canned tomatoes instead of 1 can of tomatoes
  • Fractions should be listed as 1 1/2 rather than 1+1/2
  • The Notes section is intended for short notes, so it limits the number of characters that it will show when the recipe is saved.  For longer notes, consider adding them in the instructions, dividing them up into multiple lines.
  • If no ingredient shows up initially in the Ingredient column on the confirmation screen, use the drop down box to select one that most closely matches the one you entered.  To do this, start to type the ingredient name, for example "salad" and then select the desired salad ingredient from the drop down list.
