With your Real Plans subscription + Whole30 upgrade, you can customize your Whole30 meal plan to meet your specific dietary and scheduling needs. We recommend using calendar meal planning during your Whole30 reset.
If you are using the mobile app, you will follow the steps below. If you are using the website, click here to learn how to set up your Whole30 meal plan.
Select the Whole30 diet type
- Click the gear icon (this is where you access your settings)
- If you see Whole30 Meal Plan, then your diet type has already been set to Whole30
- If you see Meal Plan, and you have already purchased the Whole30 upgrade:
- Click on Meal Plan
- Click on Diet and Schedule
- Select Whole30 from dropdown menu under diet type
Set up your Whole30 meal plan
You will start setting up your Whole30 on the Diet and Schedule page.
- If you are not already there, click on Whole30 Meal Plan
- Click on Diet and Schedule
- Select the default number of servings for the meal plan
- Real Plans will automatically make your meal plans Whole30 compliant, but to exclude additional foods, click Advanced dietary restrictions
- To exclude an entire food group:
- The food groups in green with a check mark next to them are included in your diet
- Click on the food group to exclude it; you will see it change to gray and the check mark is replaced with an x
- Once you have completed your food group exclusions, click Save and continue

- To exclude an individual ingredient:
- Enter the food you wish to avoid in the box under Search ingredients
- From the list that is generated select the ingredients to exclude
- Click on Confirm exclusions
- Once you have finished selecting your individual ingredient exclusions, click Save and continue
- Remember
- Excluding foods reduces the number of recipes available in your Recipe Box
- If you need to exclude nightshades from your diet, be sure to exclude both nightshades and potatoes (sweet potatoes are not nightshades)
- We recommend not excluding foods for which you have a good substitution or could easily omit. Here is a list of our Top 20 Ingredients that we recommend not excluding.
- To exclude an entire food group:
- Select whether you would like to use simple meal planning or calendar meal planning
- We recommend using calendar meal planning for your Whole30, so that a meal plan is automatically created for you
- Enter your Whole30 start date
- Your meal planner begins on the date of purchase to give you time to get familiar with your meal planner and do your shopping.
- You will need to select a start date to begin your Whole30 countdown.
- Select the number of days for your Whole30
- The default is 30 days, but you can change that to fit your needs
Set your meal planning schedule
- Select how many dinners you will cook each week
- Use the slider to select the number of recipes that will be cooked for dinner during the week
- Check the box next to Do you want enough for leftovers? if you would like the meal plan to use leftovers for some of the meals
- Note: Leftovers will be scheduled during lunches and/or dinners based on the number of dinner recipes selected
- Select the appropriate number for How many extra leftover portions would you like to make?
- This is the number of extra portions of each dinner recipe that you want to make
- Select the appropriate number for Over how many meals do you want to spread these leftovers
- This is how many meals each dinner recipe will be used for a leftover
- Select the types of meals that you want scheduled for lunches and breakfasts
- Select how many lunches and breakfasts will be needed each week
- Click Update if you are done making changes.
A new meal plan will be created for you using these basic scheduling settings. However, sometimes you may decide you want a little more control over your schedule. If so, you can create a customized schedule to fit your needs.
Customize your schedule
If you want to customize your meal plan further:
- To completely customize your schedule, click on Customized Scheduling
- Note: Customizing a schedule will override all of the basic scheduling settings explained above
- Select the days you want a meal scheduled
- Toggle the meals you want scheduled to green
- Toggle the meals you don't want scheduled to white
- Customize the schedule using filters
- Visit the Advanced Filters support article for detailed information on how to set up filters to refine your meal planner
- Add notes
- Add any notes that you want repeated on a specific meal each week
Save changes
- Click Update
Confirm your changes
- Update my plan
- Applies your changes to the current week and future weeks
- This removes your current meal plan entirely, and creates a new meal plan using your new settings
